Education Programs

Impact thru Education

As an extension of Irons 2 Impact, Inc., a non-for-profit company, Impact thru Education is seeking expand its youth educational program to include empowering youth in elementary through high school, to pursue their goals, dreams and passion. Our program focuses on the importance of academics, gang violence, sports, entrepreneurship and life enhancement skills exposing real life challenges and providing solutions. We offer hope to youth that are underserved, under-recognized and underdeveloped. Impact thru Education, (a community-based program) program in-conjunction with local public and private schools impacts small and large groups of students weekly through interactive learning exercises and transformational conversations. The program is seeking to expose over 1000 children to a minimum of 36 hours of sports recreation and life enhancement skills training annually.

Since its inception in May 2007, the program has exposed 200 youth to life enhancement skills using sports recreational environments as a medium by which to build trust. Each year, Irons 2 Impact works with the Georgia Training Alliance to sponsor youth athletic camps in the Atlanta area. A testimony to its popularity is that 30% of the participants are returning students. Under the direction of the Irons Family, (David, Sr., David Jr., and Kenny Irons), our youth various programs expose inner city children, ages 5-18, to a multitude of mediums i.e. sports, training, mentoring, leadership and life enhancement skills, etc.

The unique aspect of this program is the active participation of local athletes who donate their time and talent to instruct, train, critique and demonstrate for the students. The need for such a program comes from the fact that growing up in the inner city provides challenges that negatively impact a person’s quality of life. Negative stimuli and the lack of exposure to positive role models and community-based activities all contribute to this overwhelming problem. Specifically, community-based programs and activities have diminished from the many under-served neighborhoods providing limited vehicles of expression for today’s youth. Impact thru Education realizes the need to partner with schools, administrators, teachers and parents to reach the youth where they are.

As a counter to this trend, the goal of this program is to increase the exposure of inner city children to the positive community-based youth programs, giving them an opportunity to explore their talents and benefit from the positive psychological effects of having a strong community support and role models needed for healthy childhood development and adulthood transition.

To date, funding for this program has been 100% provided by private and corporate donations and the donated time of the athletes.
